Accessories for the Shack - Richard VE3OZW - 2021-05-01

A few months ago, I searched high and low locally (to me) to find some basic flat silver cable with 6P6C ends and 6P6C connectors to extend the remote head on a couple of radios.  I found this website, https://www.shopperplus.ca .  Now I have purchase other items including computer monitor arms, type F to RCA connectors, cat 5e cable and connectors, RJ12 connectors etc etc.  Prices are great, shipping is quick and reasonable out of Quebec.  I usually try to find local, but many things I am looking for are difficult to find around our area and even more difficult when trying to explain it over the phone to someone who doesn’t know.  I thought the website may be of benefit to some club members.

Thanks, hadn't seen them before.  Good to know.  I checked my favorite parts store (A-1 in Toronto) but no joy.

When I put the Kenwood 710 in my truck I needed a double female RJ45 connector to extend the mic cable.  The Source in PE had one - but their price was $25.00!!!  I quickly made my way to the door.  Good place to stay away from.  A-1 had them for $3, but I needed to order a bunch of other stuff as their minimum shipping is about $15 :-)

RE: Accessories for the Shack - VA3KOT John - 2021-05-02

Lockdown/Stay-at-Home makes for some new challenges for us ham radio builders. We can no longer just pop out to the store to pickup bits and pieces that we need. Friends and fellow hams have often mocked my approach of re-purposing scraps of wood, metal and plastic to make project enclosures, equipment feet and even CW keys. "Why bother John? Just go to the store and buy what you need; don't be cheap!" Well, how's that advice sounding now?
