Net Report June 15 2022 - Marvin VE3VCG - 2022-06-16 Georgian Bay Amateur Radio Net Report Wednesday 15 June, 2022 7:30 EDT (19:30) Net Controller: Marvin VE3VCG Topic: International Lighthouses and Lightships Weekend on Chantry Island. Marvin VE3VCG is organizing a unique weekend camping / adventure / radio event to take place over the weekend of August 21 and 22 on Chantry Island. Chanty Island, located in Lake Huron, off-shore near Southampton Ontario. is the location of a historic lighthouse and is also a Canadian National Migratory Bird Sanctuary. Access to the lighthouse and associated keepers cottage is available through the Marine Heritage Society. This group conducts public tours of the lighthouse and is responsible for the restoration and maintenance of the lighthouse and associated buildings. The balance of the island is dedicated to the bird sanctuary and has no public access. MHS tour boats have exclusive access to land at the island as part of their tour operation.
