2.  ADIF Version 3.1.5 released Nov 28, 2024

ADIF is Amateur Data Interchange Format - used to exchange QSO information between logging programs and amateur applications.

3.  Yearly Ham Challenge Begins January 1

The challenge consists of weekly exercises ranging from designing QSL cards to receiving a station on 6m via sporadic E.

This is meant to inspire you to extend your horizon in amateur radio by weekly challenges through the year that touch all aspects of ham radio (and related fields). A lot of the challenges may be trivial for some participants, but very challenging to others. Participants of the challenge are encouraged to help each other in any way possible.

Participants are encouraged to post progress through social media using the #hamchallenge hashtag. An IRC channel is also available.

4.  VLF Transmitter "SAQ" 100th Anniversary

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of its original transmission across the Atlantic Ocean, Grimeton Radio Station will activate its original call SAQ and transmit a CW message on December 1st. The CW message will transmit on 17.2 kHz at 10:00 UTC using an alternating current generator.

On December 1st, 1924, the VLF transmitter, was put into commercial operation with transmissions across the Atlantic Ocean to the receiving station at Riverhead and the replying transmitter station at Rocky Point, both on Long Island, NY, USA.  SAQ QSL cards will be available through an online form.

An amateur radio station will also be commemorating the event with call sign SK6SAQ on the following HF frequencies:
3 517.2 kHz CW, 7 017.2 kHz CW, 14 017.2 KHz CW and
3 755 kHz SSB, 7 140 kHz SSB
