Purpose: As an emergency preparedness exercise, to set up and operate an Amateur radio station in less than ideal circumstances and to increase public awareness of the Amateur Radio Service.

This years exercise happened on a cool rainy weekend, but in true Amateur Radio fashion, 3 stations and 5 antennas were set up and operated. In attendance were Dave VE3WI, Doug VE3WRF, Adam VE3IZS, Bernie VE3BQM, Tom VA3TS, Mark VA3FIN, Bob VE3LKD, Greg VE3RQY, Phil VE3QVC, Shane VE3RUT, Greg VE3NXB, Frank VA3GUF, Jon VA3CIC, Tom VA3BBH, Dieter VA3DST and Carson VA3OSO. (I'm sure I have forgotten someone so drop me a line and I'll add your name/call) In addition, there were many that dropped in to see our stations, ask questions about radio or just to reminisce about how radio affected their lives. Thanks to Grey Roots for allowing us to use their facility for this. Thanks to all who participated and brought food and equipment and good will to make this yet another memorable Field Day weekend.  73  Tom VA3TS

Canada Day Contest           INFO
July 1, 2015
(8pm June 30th to 8pm July 1st local time)
Thanks to all who came out and operated the Canada Day Station. VE3WI Dave, VA3FIN Mark and Oscar, VE3RQY Greg and VE3PAV Bobby. We started at 8pm local and operated till midnight or so. Everyone went home, no doubt tired from the recent Field Day. But we did well, I operated a bit by myself the following day but I spent some time with the grandsons at Kelso Beach in Owen Sound...Tom VA3TS

Cabot Head
Cabot Head
Our next event will be the Cabot Head Weekend on the 15th and 16th of August. This is to participate in the
International Lighthouse and lightship Weekend.

This is an opportunity for club members to meet and operate as well as demonstrate amateur radio to members of the public.
The annual ILLW amateur radio event was started in Scotland by John Forsyth, GM4OOU, and the late Mike Dalrymple (GM4SUC), both members of Ayr Amateur Radio Group (AARG). Through the years the event has grown probably far beyond what John and Mike envisaged for it all those years ago. The fact that some 85 countries have been represented in this event since inception clearly shows that it is well on its way to becoming a premier event on the ham radio calendar.
Terry Fox Run
Sept 20th

Christmas Luncheon 2015
Christmas Luncheon 2015
Here are a few pictures of our Christmas get together. As in years past it was nice to see old friends and some new ones. On behalf of GBARC we wish everyone a nice Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Many thanks to those who voted for me as this Years GBARC Amateur of the year.

Here are some pictures of the GBARC members providing essential communications for the Blue Mountains Half Marathon. The runners had an opportunity to experience the first of winter with snow and sleet covering the course although all made it through without any problems. Communications center was operated by Dave, ve3wi, Phil, ve3qvc along with event marshal toured the course in opposite direction while Doug, ve3wrf and Adam, ve3izs monitored the course from various locations along the course. All in all organizes were pleased to have GBARC provide this much needed service.
