RF Chokes for RFI Suppression

The presentation I gave is too big to attache or upload on the forum so the following will be a synopsis of the details from the 11 slides presented.

DIGITAL NOISE SOURCES

Typical recommendations at the antenna
10cm /4in. PVC wrapped in Coax band specific
     160m            28 turns
       80m            24 turns
       40m            14 turns
       20m              8 turns
       15m              5 turns
       10m              4 turns

This presentation will focus on the use of Snap on MIX-31 Ferrite of 0.25 inch inner diameter and 0.50 inch inner diameter.

Radio Station without and with Random wire Tuner
Add Mix-31 Ferrite 0.25 inch (Straight pass)
   * 1 Ferrite @ Transceiver for installed External Speaker
   * 1 Ferrite @ Transceiver for Remote Head
   * 1 Ferrite @ Transceiver for Antenna without tuner
Add Mix-31 Ferrite 0.50 inch Looped @ transceiver & @ Tuner
   * 2 x 5 looped Ferrite on Coax = 10 total
   * 2 x 1 looped Ferrite on Control cable = 2 total

Total Ferrite
0-3 Mix-31 0.25 in. ID
12  Mix-31 0.50 in. ID

Radio set up for Digital modes
Same as Radio Station with or without tuner
Add MIX-31 Ferrite 0.05 inch Looped
MIX-31 for each PC cable;
   * 1 Ferrite @ TNC/modem & 1 @ Computer
MIX-31 for each Radio cable;
   * 1 Ferrite @ TNC/Modem & 1 @ Radio

Total Ferrite
Radio Station with or without Tuner set-up requirements
4+ MIX-31 0.50 in. ID

Dependent on your radio station set-up, anywhere from a few to as many as more than 19 Ferrite may be used.

Diagrams for the placement of the ferrite can be found also in the 2 attached files showing radio station set-up cabling.
